ChatGPT Part 1 - What's all the fuss about?

From Dubai Airport to Denmark, AI has been by my side — shaping how I think, create, and live every day.

ChatGPT Part 1 - What's all the fuss about?
How I do like 99% of my cooking lately

I know that I haven't made a post in a really long while and whilst that is so typical of me, I always chase after the newest shiniest thing, I have been up to some really interesting things.

This will be an unusual one but if you read until the end, you'll find out the result of the soup prompt.

I have always had a love of writing even though I went into a technical career as a software developer so with the current boom of generative AI, it's felt eerie how an entire field of ... existence? ... has just dropped from the clear blue sky that so perfectly matches my personality and interests.

The result? Well endless tinkering and discoveries around so many topics, not just techy stuff, this journey has allowed me to explore so many different fields and it's been suggested by many in my life that I should (or in fact as many used the word) NEED to write about it.

One day, somewhat recently, I noticed, slowly slowly, yet when I think about it, all one moment, that EVERYONE is using AI. I couldn't help myself, despite my best intentions because I find that kind of thing (you'll understand in a moment) behaviour super annoying and pretentious, but I got this overwhelming hipster twingey sensation of "Hey! How dare all these other people join in. I was using AI and ChatGPT it before it was cool!".

So what makes my takes special? Well to start with, over the past 6 months I have made about several full featured apps and have used AI in ways that I haven't seen many other people do. Here are my top 3 that I've made. PanelForge, DJ Forge, and Swift Danish.

But perhaps we should start at the beginning!

I first found out about ChatGPT in the Dubai Airport, On December 5 2022 at 04:11 am. I was in transit on my way to Copenhagen. So the way I kind of look at it, is that from the very moment I emigrated I have had ChatGPT by my side, and I use either that or one of the many parallel AI services pretty much all day and every day. It's become as ever present to me as breathing, or even more intensely, my smartphone.

Now that can be good and bad, as I will explore over the next few posts, but what makes it special is that actually from the very moment I began my new life in Denmark, I also kind of shifted thinking paradigms to involve AI - all in the same moment. Talk about a life change!

So what I am setting out to do is to create a few blog posts outlining how I use AI, what things I've built with it that perhaps you guys might want to check out, and put out there on a paper permanent record (well not literal paper, yuck - ink stains on my left handed fingies) all the ways I have used it to positively impact my life.

If that sounds like something you would like to read, then just wait for my next email. If it doesn't... um... I guess I could make a split newsletter list. One for my personal stuff, and another one for just personal updates. But the way I see it, they are kind of one and the same. The tips and tricks are still my own ones, that I invented, so its all still my personality over them. Therefore, if you enjoy my writing and my personality, you'll want to follow along, regardless of how nerdy it might get. Which might be VERY nerdy... just kidding... or am I?
